Our Mission
Our mission is to promote the well-being and empowerment of young individuals who arrive in the UK alone after traumatic journeys.
We strive to create a sense of belonging, to provide direct support, to build bridges within the East African communities, and to advocate for changes in unfair and discriminatory systems which undermine well-being. Through our youth clubs and intensive casework and mentoring support we offer a safe and enjoyable space for young people to relax, socialise, play games, and receive the assistance they need.
Our approach includes fostering advocacy skills, empowering young individuals to advocate for themselves, and creating positive changes in their lives. We aim to overcome social isolation, discrimination, and hostility by building sustainable relationships of trust and support within the East African communities, enabling these young people to overcome marginalisation and to thrive in society
Inclusive Community
We envision a community that embraces diversity, respects cultural heritage, and fosters a sense of belonging for young people from the Horn of Africa.
We work towards a future where the mental health of young asylum-seekers and refugees is a priority. Through direct support, advocacy, and essential services, we help them heal, grow, and thrive.
We empower young people with the tools, resources, and confidence to advocate for themselves and create positive change. Through programs like the Injera Club, we build their agency, resilience, and leadership skills.
Holistic Well-being
Empowered Youth
We strive for a society where discriminatory systems are reformed to support and protect young asylum-seekers and refugees. Through campaigning, policy work, and collaboration, we challenge barriers and advocate for policies that uphold their rights and well-being.
We aim to collaborate with partners, funders, communities, and organizations to amplify our impact. By building strong relationships, sharing resources, and working together, we create a network of support and solidarity that goes beyond Da'aro.
